At 18.30 p.m. on 27 October, a special lecture titled Urban Culture and the Construction of World's Literary Capital in Nanjing took place on Yingtian Campus Library. Professor Song Gang, Librarian of Xiaozhuang College, Professor Xie Dongbing, Librarian of JSCVC gave the lecture and presided over it respectively, an audience of about 70 including library staff, teachers and students from school of Information Engineering attended the lecture.
Focusing on the concept of urban culture , Professor Song Gang clarified the elements of city and civilization; interpreted the characteristics of Nanjing's regional culture from the aspects of geographical relations and urban functions, refining urban temperament and civic spirit; tracing back to cultural context of Nanjing, expounding the course and significance of Nanjing's application to the world's literary capital, and introducing the discipline construction and development prospect of “Nanjing Learning”. Professor Song Gang stressed that Nanjing Learning should be a dynamic development system well versed in the past, the present and the future!
Professor Song Gang spoke passionately for two and a half hours, and finally interacted with some of the students present. The audience at the lecture was fully engaged, the lecture achieved good results.
